A4 · A5 · I tried using a book type water bottle "memobottle" fitting perfectly with a letter size

While it is a water bottle that carries drinks, a water bottle that has a flat shape like a book is "Memobottle"is. Memobottle using highly transparent material gained popularity from its stylish design and succeeded the project at the cloud funding site · Kickstarter. Since such a memobottle also reached the editorial department, I tried what kind of finish it is, and how it is usability.

Memobottle - A4, A5 & Letter Reusable Water Bottles by memobottle - Kickstarter
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1645027465/memobottle-a4-a5-and-letter-reusable-water-bottles

Memobottle is a book type water bottle using a highly transparent material "Truthan". Three types of water bottles of "A5" "A4" "LETTER" are lineuped, but as its name suggests it is the same size as A5 paper, A4 paper, and letter paper often used overseas It has a unique size structure.

Memobottle is a product developed to encourage people to carry water bottles to eliminate waste of PET bottles, which are often disposable. When we solicited investment with Kickstarter, we gathered about 260,000 Australian dollars (about 26 million yen), which exceeds the target value of 15,000 Australian dollars (about 1.5 million yen) from over 6,000 investors from around the world The project was successful.

Memobottle arrived at the editorial department. Products are contained in an inner box and are contained in a cardboard dressing box that looks more like a picture.

The size of the bottle and the bar code on the surface, and the letters of "Designed in Melbourne, Australia Made in Taipei, Taiwan" were printed on the upper left part.

On the back side, there is a dedicated space for affixing invoices etc. at the time of shipment, so it seems that you are sticking to the design of the package.

When removing the cosmetic box, an inner box of similar taste came out from inside. On the front is a big bottle design is decorated.

On the side surface, frozen OK, heat-resistant OK, and it is said that there is an influence on the human body "Bisphenol A"" BPA Free "was not included in the text.

On the back is written the message "Thank you" along with the aim of memobottle development and the environment.

I will open the package from perforation at once.

From inside, a bottle wrapped in a milky white bag came out.

In the package, there are two booklets and a replacement lid, and the memobottle main body.

In the brochure was written the message "You are now part of the memo family." (You are also a member of the memo family).

Bottle is made of Eastman 's material "Tritan", high transparency is maintained. The letter "A5" is engraved largely around the drinking mouth.

When turning over the main body, the character "memobottle" was engraved on the back side.

Three lids are included in the bottle including the replacement, so you can use it in different moods or change the color according to contents.

At the bottom of the lid, a rubber-like packing engraved with "memobottle" is installed and you can see that measures against leakage have been applied. The area around which such stamps are stamped is conveyed that it is a commodity made with considerable attention, but in fact this happening is not only hidden in this product.

After opening the A5 bottle and opening other products, somehow A4 bottle and letter bottle are made of milky white material. Originally it was supposed to use the same transparent material as 3 sizes ... ....?

As a result of examination, it turned out that the specification was changed quickly for what reason and for manufacturing reasons. Originally, it was supposed that transparent materials were to be used for all three types, but since it was found that the material "Tritan" used for A5 bottles could not be used for A4 / letter size for strength reasons, It was changed to flexible milky white material. Although there was no contact in advance about the specification change, apparently it seems that it was the same situation for other investors, and in the comment field on the Kickstarter page, the situation of disappointment and voices of anger being sent one by one It is becoming.

Comments

Not only did we not hear about sudden change in material, at the time of writing the article is not clearly stated except that the material after specification change is "is BPA free", there is also no point that satisfactory explanation has not been made problem. One thing is that such events can occur rarely due to the nature of crowdfunding that develops products together with the development side.

Take a moment to see A 5 bottle again. The weight of the bottle including the lid was 152 grams, but here another fact is known.

When we weighed the weight of the other of the A5 bottles that we had gotten, we were 173 grams and weighed more than 20 grams. Since the outer dimensions of the main body are almost unchanged, only the throat thickness of the main body is slightly different. It was a moment when I felt like a glimpse of the difficulty and stray of this project from the uneasy quality variations as an industrial product that should be manufactured while carefully managing the materials.

I actually added water and measured the capacity. The weight of the body omitting the body weight is 803 grams. Certainly, since the bottle's capacity was written as "750 ml" in the package, even if some error is taken into consideration it will be calculated as much as 50 ml.

I did not care about the details, I actually tried using it. Firstly wash the bottle and try putting in tea, assuming an outing as the actual use scene.

When filling in, of course, you will be poured from the lid part. Because the opening is narrow, you may want to take care not to spill drinks, or use "wax" together.

Afterwards OK if you tighten the lid tight.

I tried shaking and bottle shuffle as if clearing up nude, but there was no way that the contents leaked out from the lid.

I also tried the body upside down for a while, but it seemed that there was no problem in the confidentiality of the lid packing.

When the shape of the slim body is most utilized, when put in a bag etc like this. Although it may be bulky if it is a cylindrical bottle, memobottle has a thin and flat shape, and thanks to the smooth surface, it was easy to carry and take out.

Even if you look inside the bag, you can see that it stays snugly fitting with other luggage perfectly. Although it feels a bit scary to be with a notebook PC etc, Tritan used for A5 bottle is known to have high durability in nature, and it will not crack with some impact It has been with. After that, if you close the lid tightly, in most cases it will not cause water leakage.

I will also look at A4 bottles and letter bottles. In the explanation of the original Kickstarter page, the size of A4 bottle and letter bottle should be slightly different. However, if you look side by side like this, you can see only the same size, no matter how much you put your eyes on.

Tall height is also totally together. There is no other choice than to think that kore was made of the same mold.

Observing the part written "A4" and "LETTER", there is a border of the outer periphery which could not be seen in the A4 bottle. If you are experienced in mold forming, you may come to the pin, but in judging from the situation it is highly likely that this technique is used to replace only the character part using a common mold. Apparently the suspicion that these two are the same is getting stronger.

I almost convinced with the same bottle, I measured the weight of the bottle body thinking "huh", while the A4 bottle was 224 grams ......

The letter bottle was 213 grams. It seems that it seems to symbolize the stray of a project somehow.

When I put in water of the amount of 1.25 liter which is the specified amount of the letter bottle, it looks like this is still quite enough.

I could put in about 1.64 liters of water when I filled it up to full water. (The weight of the container is deducted)

In addition, the bottle after using wash with jabjub in tap water like this ... ...

It is going to dry up on a drying table etc. Because the opening is narrow, it seems to be a weak point that you can not wash with a brush or sponge in it, but this may be a trade-off with designability and functionality and it is nothing else to divulge. In the site and pamphlet of the manufacturer, there was also a statement that "it is good to wash with vinegar etc."

In this way, although memobottle gathered people's attention with excellent design, it was highlighted that it was hard to say that at least the initial production was not necessarily a satisfactory product. The site of manufacturing is a repetition of troubles and trial and error, and when things go forward without trouble, it is a fact that it is few, but at least if there is a notification of material change, the investor's reaction may have been different.

Still this is one of Kickstarter's projects. It seems that it was said that it was one case that reconfirmed that it is important to understand that there are cases where the project does not proceed smoothly, as it is this time, and that the mental attitude of investing in the project is important.

In Japan, similar book type / slim type water bottles were also popular several years ago. As it is a product like the following, it is possible to say that there is a long day in terms of usability and function aside from the design as it is possible to wash the inside by splitting the main body or carrying cases for carrying.
