Enable to identify people cheat on mobile terminals by seat

ByMr_Stein

A system for detecting mobile phones, smartphones, and other communication equipments communicating during the entrance examination at the seat level precision was jointly developed by Tokyo Institute of Technology and Koyo Electric Works. Its error is only 0.5 m or less, which makes it possible to specify in units of seats.

Just before the entrance examination one year ago, an incident occurred in which the exam contents were distributed on the web in real time. Although it was specified that the student was using a mobile terminal, it was difficult to completely prevent fraudulent acts, and measures were taken by increasing the exam supervision and so on. However, in the center exam conducted in January, it became clear that there is no effective countermeasure for preventing fraudulent activity using mobile terminals.

This time, the research group of Tokyo Institute of Technology collaborated with Koei Electric Manufacturing Co., Ltd., completed the system to estimate the position from the communication wave of the terminal by the multi-sensor type position transition system and machine learning. Although there was a method of position estimation using radio waves up to now, there was also an average position estimation error of 3 m. In the new system, this error has been greatly improved to just 0.5 m or less, making it possible to detect mobile terminals in real time and with high accuracy.

A classroom where the experiment was conducted. There is a teacher in front, the desk is getting a little taller as you go to the back, it is an orthodox classroom arrangement.

The sensor was installed at the four corners and the center.

The range of the position estimation error is like this.

It is expected that this system will be a deterrent to fraud, but will it become possible to cheat on analog means as well ...?
