A negative world heritage where the history of black slaves remains in Dakar, the capital city of Senegal, went to Gore Island

Hello,Around the World Bicycle WorldIt is Takuya Sudo @ Chaliderman. In Dakar, the capital of Senegal, I stayed for 17 days with rest and chores. Dakar is situated on the peninsula surrounded by the sea, so it is always hot and pleasant wind is blowing, so it is recommended to slow it down. It was a fun day of discovery and surprise with Goré island which is a negative world heritage, the pelican at the west end of Africa, a huge tortoise. This time we will deliver the charm of Dakar.

Here is Dakar, capital of Senegal, the largest city in West Africa.

The coin of the Senegalese safer fur coin. Coins of 25 and 250 are unusual. 225 I asked for the cola at the safer furan's bottle and handed over 250 safer francs, and I was mistaken for 200 safer as "Hey, 25 safer needed" is not enough. Local people are also confused.

A large building is forested in the center of Dakar.

The street of the center and the signboard of Samsung.

Near the central market.

In the vicinity of this central market, doubtful people are always calling out to tourists. I was caught by one of them unfortunately. I just heard that I do not know the sports shop. While taking precautions against him speaking good English, he took me to that place. It's closed on Sunday, but I could check the place, so I will not lose next time, errands are over with this. But he continues to fight desperately with "I can not do what I can do, please say anything".

I'd like to break out "Thank you for your kind thank you because I do not want it," he will eat "I have not finished yet." At the same time as I had a bad feeling, "I want to drink something because I want to drink" It seems this was the purpose from the beginning. I refused to say "who promised that kind of time, going to police" and ran away to a police officer guiding traffic. But ordinary Senegalese is kind. "Hey, what's wrong," worried and will teach you the way properly.

African-like painting that I liked. Three-dimensional intersection wall.

"Casino" is a common supermarket in mainland France.

The French financial group that develops to the world

There was also a sports shop with a reasonable bicycle. Consumables such as wires and tubes are available.

Shopping mall centered on "Casino" in another place. I saw four "Casino" merely by checking in Dakar city. The things being sold are almost the same as in Europe, and most of them are imported goods, so we did not shop much because they cost a lot. Mostly I was shopping at a neighborhood store where things were made in Senegal.

It was close to the hostel, a solid road called VDN.

Since I was far from the hostel to the center, I was on the bus. The bus is always crowded. The medium-sized buses are seated on two rows of seats across the aisle, and five people with supplementary seats in the aisle are sitting together with their shoulders brought together.

The gap between the neighbor and the neighbor is pressed and can not move. It was a pleasant place. The large bus is cramped like a Japanese commuter train. It is a terrible move, but it is not bad, as I can experience African life. Because there are everyday movements in this way.

There are frequent blackouts in Dakar. I often saw such an in-house generator at banks, hotels, shops, etc.

Dakar Port where a lot of containers are stored.

Even in Dakar the sun will go dark.

A cheerful Senegalese man.

I went to Gore Island registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Gore Island is a small island of 300 m east to west and 900 m north and south floating about 3 kilometers off the coast of Dakar, once flourished as a base for slave trade. There are still slave camps in the island, and many tourists visit as a negative world heritage. The ferry departure place was fine.

I will take this ship and head for the island.

Gore island is now visible.

Children playing with waves.

School that seems to have been made with Japanese aid.

Laundry laid carelessly.

There are lots of batteries in the fortress.

A coastline that is setting up defense.

Passage to the battery.

And the battery.

Even though it is originally a place of tension, the scenery where peaceful living is mixed is interesting.

Cactus flowers were in bloom.

The other side of the sea is the city of Dakar.

I looked down on the island from the hill.

There were cows on such an island.

Coastline where the cliff continues.

Something that was abandoned.

The antenna tower that looked like a palm tree is fashionable.

Vivid flower color.

And I visited the house of slave. A lot of people are listening to the explanation.

It is written that it was taken to the Americas.

Restraint tool.

A room written with men. The slaves were divided. There were children's rooms among them.

Inside of room where heavy atmosphere felt.

Passage to wait for the ship being carried.

I wonder what former slaves thought of the sea and thought ... and thinking about slavery as a kind of relief. Then, groups that seem to be elementary school students or junior high school students are lined up and laughed smiling while saying "China, Chin, Chung" in Senegalese.

What on earth will they go to study? We have been told that we should not racially discriminate. However, the people here can breathe a discriminatory word as if it were commonplace. I am neither you nor you. There are people who can not help it in the world.

Port of Gore Island. Ships are coming and going here.

I went to the west end of the African continent near Dakar. A lighthouse standing on top of the hill.

The beach where the shells are scattered.

I took a commemorative photo at the sea near the westernmost end of the continent of Africa. Actually, this is not the westernmost point, it seems that the real westernmost point is within the premises of the nearby luxury restaurant. Although it is not very much, I can not reach out to myself. That's why I was satisfied there. The wind was a pleasant sea.

I found Pelican.

The way I walk with my eyes is very unique.

With lovely big eyes and

It is cute and it can not be helped, as it was Kyoton.

The symbol mark of Dakar.

I saw an eccentric mosque on the coastal road.

I met again with two Japanese chariders I parted in Marrakesh at Dakar. It is nothing more than gaining access to each other so far. I also moved to Switzerland's Charida 's house of their friends and stayed together for a while. A story that does the same things will not run out forever. Everyone went to various places. Salt was made in the lake called Pink Lake.

A lot of ships are working.

Baobab tree

I walked to the sea.

Spreading sand beach.

And finally I went to the sea. The waves spread widely.

With the handful of small snails that were being shaken by the waves.

I also went to see a tortoise.

Appearance to eat grass.

Compared to hands it is so big.

Two heads near the nest.

Four young heads.

Baby turtle.

I also went to Nogor island which floats off the coast near the cape at the west end of Africa. It is a small island that makes a round as soon as walking

Two people taking pictures with a cliff.

I also have a picture taken.

I was relaxed on a peaceful island.

It was not only sightseeing. Actually I was doing vaccination of endemic lesions like Africa, sending luggage to Japan, getting a mobile phone, and so on.

And I have to get a tourist visa (visa). Visa is like a permit. Without this it is not possible to stay in that country. Many countries are exempt from Europe and Asian countries, but not in Africa.

I got Maribisa at the Mali Embassy.

This is Maribisa. A single visa for a month valid for two months from the effective date.

This is Gambia visa. I heard the story that it can be taken at the border, but since it was uncertain information, I got it in Dakar.

I also got a Guinea visa in Dakar. In addition, we need a Guinea-Bissau visa, but in Dakar the visa fee is expensive so I am planning to get it at the embassy of Gambia in the next country or consulate in Ziguinchor in the Casarance region. Marijuza had a valid period, but the Guinea visa was a visa designated on the date of entry. Even though this entry day designation was told by another official of another day "I can not do such a thing". Visa is difficult, so I tried it a bit.

【Visa with valid period】
There is a validity period of 1 month, 2 months, and you have to enter within it. The number of days stayed will be counted from the date of arrival. In Mali and Iran, in case of a 30 day single visa, if March 1 is the issue date, March 15 should be the entry date and departure by April 13.

【Visa that can be designated as entry date】
Visa issued in Guinea and Uzbekistan, you can enter only after the designated date of entry. The number of days stayed will be counted from the designated date of entry. In the case of a 30-day single visa, if March 1 is the issue date, you must designate your entry on March 15, you must enter the country on April 1, and leave the country before April 13.

【Visa without valid period】
In Azerbaijan, Gambian visa, the number of days stayed will be counted from the date of receipt. In the case of a 30-day single visa, if March 1 is the issue date, you must enter the country on March 15, and leave the country before March 30.

In this way, there are various restrictions by visa, and additionally we do not know well what kind of visa can be taken where. There are visas that can be taken at the border like Georgia and Armenia. Thinking about various cases, you have to combine visas, and hold your head many times. This West Africa since Senegal is hard because it is only countries where visas are needed in the meantime.

When I leave Dakar, I will aim for a country called Gambia that is sandwiched between Senegalese. Senegal is the former French territory, but Gambia is an old British territory. Is there any difference?
