NTT docomo to update "Xperia (SO-01B)" for multi-touch

According to the press release sent from NTT docomo, it seems to start distributing the version upgrade file that makes Xperia (SO - 01B) compatible with multi touch from around 20 o'clock on Wednesday, January 19, 2011. Please note that the OS version itself remains Android 2.1.

Contents of version upgrade realize the screen enlarging operation by reducing the screen by "pinch in" operation for reducing the interval of the fingers by putting two fingers on the screen and "pinch out" operation for widening the interval between the fingers It is compatible with multi-touch operation.

The version upgrade procedure has two kinds of "upgrading by personal computer connection" and "version up by packet communication" which do not require packet communication charges. To update the version by packet communication, it is necessary to update to "Android 2.1" first. By the way, version upgrade by packet communication is scheduled to begin around 20 o'clock on Thursday, January 20, 2011.

Applications that can use multi-touch are not supported for multi-touch applications that can be installed in Android Market etc. by browser, map, "Office Suite", "Moxier Mail", etc. Also, "3 or more multi-touch operations" and "multi-touch rotation operation (operations used with Google Maps 5.0)" are not supported.
