Table of Contents: Tokyo Motor Show 2009

The 41st TOKYO MOTOR SHOW 2009 opened today at Makuhari Messe. Public days will be held from Oct.24(Sat) to Nov.4(Wed).

It's been two years since the last Tokyo Motor Show in 2007 and we were looking forward to the big show, but regrettably the number of exhibitors decreased by half, from 241 companies to 108, due to the recessions.

Some of the highlights this year will be Toyota's FT-86, successor of Toyota Sprinter Trueno(AE86) known by its petname "86" in Japan from popular manga Initial D, and Honda's U3-X personal mobility device (Segway-like unicycle). Under the slogan "Fun Driving for Us, Eco Driving for Earth", a number of eco-cars and green technologies are expected to be showcased.
