Elizabeth Gibson, a creator who likes to pick up abandoned antiques and take it home. Mr. Gibson seems to find a picture on the upper west side four years ago and it was decorating it on the wall of the house. However, a few months after picking up the picture, I found that Ruffino · Tamayo signature is on.
When I heard that a work of Rufino · Tamayo sold for 500 thousand dollars (about 57 million yen) from a friend about a year later and let me show the art book of my friend, the picture on the cover was decorated on the wall "Tres Personajes" was listed. I asked a gallery specializing in art in Latin America and found out that the picture she has is genuine. In 1977, a businessman of Houston gave it to his wife as a gift, after the couple moved, it was stolen from the custodian, and it seems that the missing position was unknown for many years afterwards. When she examined the picture, I found that it is worth about 1 million dollars (about 114 million yen).
"Tres Personajes" will be returned to the original owner and will be put on Sotheby's auction next month. Mr. Gibson seems to receive $ 15,000 (about 1.7 million yen) plus a commission on the prize money that was placed when the picture was first stolen.
