◆Ryzen PRO 8040 series
The Ryzen PRO 8040 series is a cutting-edge x86 processor built for business laptops and mobile workstations. The Ryzen PRO 8040 series is manufactured on a 4nm process, uses the Zen 4 architecture, and is equipped with up to eight high-performance cores.

Some models are equipped with AMD Ryzen AI, which integrates the powerful AMD RDNA 3 architecture on the chip, delivering up to 72% faster video conferencing performance and up to 84% lower power consumption compared to Intel's Core Ultra 7165U , regardless of whether the AI experience is enabled. In addition, PCs equipped with the Ryzen PRO 8040 series will also be the first PCs to support Wi-Fi 7 .

The list of Ryzen PRO 8040 series models is as follows.

model Cores/Threads Boost/Bass Frequency Total Cache cTD Ryzen AI
Ryzen 9 PRO 8945HS 8C/16T Up to 5.2GHz/4GHz 24MB 35-54W Available
Ryzen 7 PRO 8845HS 8C/16T Up to 5.1GHz/3.8GHz 24MB 35-54W Available
Ryzen 7 PRO 8840HS 8C/16T Up to 5.1GHz/3.3GHz 24MB 20-28W Available
Ryzen 7 PRO 8840U 8C/16T Up to 5.1GHz/3.3GHz 24MB 15-28W Available
Ryzen 5 PRO 8645HS 6C/12T Up to 5.0GHz/4.3GHz 22MB 35-54W Available
Ryzen 5 PRO 8640HS 6C/12T Up to 4.9GHz/3.5GHz 22MB 20-28W Available
Ryzen 5 PRO 8640U 6C/12T Up to 4.9GHz/3.5GHz 22MB 15-28W Available
Ryzen 5 PRO 8540U 6C/12T Up to 4.9GHz/3.2GHz 22MB 15-28W not available

The top-of-the-line model, the Ryzen 9 PRO 8945HS, is equipped with 8 cores, 16 threads, 24MB cache, and the Radeon 780M. AMD describes it as 'designed with powerful processing power for resource-intensive applications like technical computing, multimedia content creation, and discrete graphics, and can handle graphics-demanding workloads like 3D rendering, video encoding, and photo editing.'

The Ryzen PRO 8040 series processors are scheduled to be available from OEM partners such as HP and Lenovo from the second quarter of 2024.

◆Ryzen PRO 8000 series
The Ryzen PRO 8000 series is the first AI-enabled desktop processor for business users designed to deliver cutting-edge performance with low power consumption. Some processors in the Ryzen PRO 8000 series are equipped with the first AI-dedicated engine, enabling immersive AI experiences with incredible power and efficiency. The Ryzen PRO 8000 series is also manufactured using a 4nm process, adopts the Zen 4 architecture, and is equipped with up to eight high-performance cores.

The top-end model of the Ryzen PRO 8000 series, the Ryzen 7 PRO 8700G, is said to deliver up to 47% better performance in some tests compared to Intel's Core i7 14700 , and up to three times better graphics performance.

The Ryzen PRO 8000 series NPU's computing power ( TOPS ) compared to Intel processors is as follows. The NPU performance is better than Intel's 14th generation Core processors and Intel Core Ultra, and the overall system performance also exceeds Intel Core Ultra. However, Microsoft defines the specifications required for next-generation AI PCs as '45 TOPS for the NPU alone,' so the Ryzen PRO 8000 series cannot meet this standard.

Ryzen PRO 8000 series PCs support DDR5 and PCIe 4 for ultra-fast data transfers, smooth workflow, and quick access to business-critical applications and data, and some products will also support Wi-Fi 7.

The models of the Ryzen PRO 8000 series are as follows.

model Cores/Threads Boost/Bass Frequency Total Cache cTD Ryzen AI
Ryzen 7 PRO 8700G 8C/16T Up to 5.1GHz/4.2GHz 24MB 45-65W Available
Ryzen 7 PRO 8700GE 8C/16T Up to 5.1GHz/3.65GHz 24MB 35W Available
Ryzen 5 PRO 8600G 6C/12T Up to 5.0GHz/4.35GHz 22MB 45-65W Available
Ryzen 5 PRO 8600GE 6C/12T Up to 5.0GHz/3.90GHz 22MB 35W Available
Ryzen 5 PRO 8500G 6C/12T Up to 5.0GHz/3.55GHz 22MB 45-65W not available
Ryzen 5 PRO 8500GE 6C/12T Up to 5.0GHz/3.40GHz 22MB 35W not available
Ryzen 3 PRO 8300G 4C/8T Up to 4.90GHz/3.45GHz 12MB 45-65W not available
Ryzen 3 PRO 8300GE 4C/8T Up to 4.90GHz/3.50GHz 12MB 35W not available

The top-of-the-line Ryzen 7 PRO 8700G is equipped with eight high-performance cores and 16 threads, 24MB cache, and integrated Radeon 780M graphics, delivering up to 19% better performance while consuming less power than competing processors.

The Ryzen PRO 8000 series will be available from OEM partners HP and Lenovo starting in the second quarter of 2024, as well as through select channel partners.

When AMD announced the Ryzen PRO 8040 series and Ryzen PRO 8000 series, Microsoft mentioned that the series is integrated with Microsoft Pluton , a security processor, and also supports Copilot, Microsoft's chat AI.
