I carefully checked the appearance and shutter sound of the global shutter full-frame mirrorless single-lens camera 'α9 III' that can shoot 120 images per second.

The world's first mirrorless single-lens camera equipped with a global shutter full-frame sensor, the α9 III , was released on January 26, 2024. In addition to being able to take distortion-free photos using the global shutter, the α9 III also has ultra-high-speed continuous shooting performance of 120 frames per second and 8 stops of image stabilization performance, making it possible to perfectly capture the decisive moment. Since I was able to borrow such an α9 III from Sony, I first checked the appearance, shutter sound, etc. in detail.

The α9 III looks like this. A C5 button is installed near the mount.

The mount is E mount and the sensor size is 35mm full size. The sensor name is 'Exmor RS CMOS sensor' and the maximum number of effective pixels is approximately 24.6 million pixels for still images and approximately 20.3 million pixels for video.

The back looks like this.

The number of EVF dots is 9,437,184 dots, and the maximum frame rate is 240Hz.

The LCD monitor is 3.2 inches and has 2,095,104 dots. It supports touch operation.

The angle of the LCD monitor is adjustable.

It incorporates both so-called 'tilt' and 'vari-angle' functions, so you can also turn it around and use it for selfie mode.

There are 5 covers on the left side.

This is what it looks like when you open the cover all the way. The left side is the LAN terminal, HDMI type A terminal, and synchro terminal from top to bottom, and the right side is the microphone terminal, headphone terminal, USB Type-C terminal, and Micro-USB terminal from top to bottom.

There is a memory card slot on the right side.

Two memory cards can be inserted, and each slot can accept either an SD card or a CFexpress Type A card.

There is a battery slot on the bottom.

You can use

the NP-FZ100 battery, which is also used in the α series other than the α9 III.

The actual weight of the α9 III body is 626g.

Weight including battery is 708g.

When I inserted the battery into the α9 III and attached the E-mount lens '

FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM II ', it weighed 1452g.

When holding the α9 III with FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM II attached, it looks like this. It's not particularly lightweight, but the grip is deep enough and the shutter button is located in an easy-to-press position, so it doesn't feel heavier than its specs suggest.

The α9 III has four continuous shooting speeds that can be selected from the drive mode dial: 'Lo', 'Mid', 'Hi', and 'Hi+'. In the initial state, Lo is 5 frames per second, Mid is 15 frames per second, and Hi is 30 frames per second. sheets, Hi+ is set to 120 sheets per second. In the following movie, in addition to single-shot shooting, you can check the electronic shutter sound when shooting in 'Lo', 'Mid', 'Hi', 'Hi +', and 'Self-timer' modes.
